Plant genetics

We develop plant genetics through large-population pheno hunts, selecting against written criteria. Only lines that perform consistently across repeat runs are taken forward.

Every hunt is documented: parent material, population size, selection criteria and run-to-run results. Licence holders who take on a line receive this record with the plant material.

  • Genetics licensing

Term or per-run licences for established lines, available to holders of a cultivation licence. Includes the selection record and a grow-in call to support your first run.

  • Seed and clone supply

Plant material is supplied from one licence holder to another, with matching chain-of-custody documentation. Available on request only; we do not publish a list.

  • Pheno hunts for your facility

We can run the hunt in your facility, selecting for your conditions and offtake specification, or run it here and hand over the results.

  1. Population

Start with a wide population of seed, enough to find the outliers as well as the average.

  2. Hunt

Score every plant against the same criteria: vigour, structure, uniformity, resilience, yield, consistency.

  3. Stabilise

Re-run the keepers. Anything that drifts between runs is cut.

  4. Licence

The line goes out with its paperwork to the licence holders who want it.

Consulting

We have grown commercially in every format used in New Zealand: indoor, greenhouse, light-deprivation and outdoor. We help operators plan, build and run cultivation projects within their site, budget and offtake requirements.

Indoor

Sealed rooms with a controlled environment give the highest consistency per square metre. Capital costs are higher; we help you plan spend carefully.

Greenhouse

Sun-driven with supplemental control. A practical middle ground for most New Zealand sites.

Light deprivation

Multiple cycles a season from a hoop house with blackout. The lowest-cost route to a scheduled harvest.

Outdoor

Lowest cost per plant, with the most exposure to weather. Site selection and timing matter most.

  • Builds on a tight budget

We sequence spend so the first harvest funds the second phase, covering what to buy now, what can wait a season, and what not to skip.

  • End-to-end project management

We cover site selection, design, licence application support, fit-out, commissioning and the first run, with one person accountable throughout.

  • Short timelines

We have set up grows on short timelines and can take a project from decision to first harvest quickly.

  • Site and design review

Half a day on your plans or your site. You leave with a written list of what to change before you spend money.

  • Build-out management

We run the build through to first harvest, with weekly reporting, budget tracking and contractor management.

  • Grow-in coaching

We are on call for your first one or two runs, covering environment, irrigation, pest and disease management, and harvest timing.

  • Retainer

A standing number of hours per month for operators who want a second opinion on the data.

About Haze Pharma

Haze Pharma is founded and run by Dylan. He has grown cannabis commercially in every format used in New Zealand: indoor, greenhouse, light-deprivation and outdoor.

He spent years selecting and stabilising plant lines before the Medicinal Cannabis Scheme existed to licence them. Other operators regularly ask him for help with builds, difficult rooms and pheno hunts.

Haze Pharma Limited was incorporated in 2024 and holds a licence under the Medicinal Cannabis Scheme. The company operates from Kelston, West Auckland.

Working with licence holders

We are in the business of cultivating medicinal cannabis and supplying plant genetics and material to other licence holders, as permitted under the Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis) Regulations 2019. We operate to the quality and security requirements of our licence.
